On 18th, 19th, and 20th trainees had 4 lectures, given by Prof. Yoshinaka of Hiroshima University, Mr. Berin McKenzie of UNITAR Hiroshima Office, Ms. Takamura of Hiroshima Brand Promotion Division of HPG, and Prof. Tezuka of Hiroshima University.
July 21st is the field trip day. Trainees visit Kumano Town, next to Higashihiroshima, where brushes (for shodo (calligraphy), painting, and make-up) are produced in numbers of factories.

- It takes about 30 minutes by bus to get Kumano.

- First the town officers explain about the area and industry.

- “Meister school” is the institute where future craftsmen and craftswomen study to be Fude (=brush) meisters.

- Okonomiyaki for lunch.

- In the afternoon trainees visit “Fude-no-sato Kobo” where skilled craftsmen demonstrate how to make traditional calligraphy fude.

- Then they visit “Koyudo”, a factory that produces cosmetic brushes.
