Aims ＆ Scope

Hiroshima Journal of Peace is a forum of researchers and practitioners of peace who have extensive interest and/or experiences in the fields of peace and peace-building. It accepts papers in such extensive areas related to peace as anthropology, development studies, economics, education, history, international relations, legal studies, political science, psychology and sociology. It welcomes papers with practical experiences for peacebuilding in those disciplines, or academic papers from practitioners.

Author’s Guide the Hiroshima Journal of Peace

Length:
　For academic or review article: Preferable length is about 5,000-7,000 words
　For research note: Preferable length is about 2,000-3,000 words
　For book review: Preferable length is about 1,200-1,500 words
Language: English
Abstract: all articles should include an abstract of 100-150 words.
Key words: 5 key words or short phrases in alphabetical order

Paper size: A4, 36 lines
Margins: 1 inch (2.5cm)
Font: Times New Roman

Linefeed width: 1 line feed
Alignment: Full justification
Space: after a full stop - 2 spaces, after a colon, semicolon or comma - 1 space
Do NOT put your name and affiliation at any place of the main text.

Figures: Center justification
Figures’ Title: 10pt, Arial, Bold, Center justification
Tables: Center justification

4. Reference

Reference materials must be all listed at the end of the article and follow the ways mentioned below.
Periodical:
Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (2004), Title of Article, Title of Periodical, xx, xxx-xxx.
*Periodical includes items published on a regular basis: journals, magazines, scholarly newsletters, and so on.
Nonperiodical:
Author, A. A.(2004), Title of work, Location: Publisher.
Part of Nonperiodical (e.g. book chapter):
Author, A. A. (2004), Title of chapter, in A. Editor, & B. Editor (Eds.), Title of book (pp. xxx-xxx), Location: Publisher.

5.In-text Citation

You can refer to the author’s name outside of parenthesis followed by the parenthesis year of publication. Alternatively, you can parenthesis both the author’s name and publication year.
(ex.) In a recent study, Marshall (2017) showed that...................
A resent study (Marshall, 2017) showed that……………….
If you make a direct quotation, use quotation marks and include page numbers.
(ex.) Marshall (2017) observed that “their dependency on the liquid gas is a growing concern” (p.106).
Therefore, “their dependency on the liquid gas is a growing concern” (Marshall, 2017, p.106).

Footnotes are mandated and papers with endnotes will be rejected.

7.PEER REVIEW

Submitted papers are referred to two experts for anonymous peer review, approval from both of whom is the condition for the paper to be published. Reviewers may also suggest revisions before publication, or reject the paper for publication. Reviewers’comments are passed anonymously to the authors. Results of the review are typically available one month after article submission.
